Curobe's Top to Bottom Styling Tips: Apple Body Shape

Each one of us has a different relationship with our body, the clothes we wear and the way that clothes makes us feel! Here at Curobe we want to empower you to feel like the best version of yourself when you get dressed. Finding clothes that make you feel incredible about your body will make you look your best.

Styling tips for a fuller waistline: If you have a large bust, narrow hips and a fuller midsection then you have what is traditionally known as an apple body shape or a circle shape.  Apple shaped women also tend to have slimmer legs and a flatter bum.

Let’s Take it From the Top

When searching for tops for an apple shape body a swing, draped or tunic style can be really great options!  Tops that wrap at your natural waistline and then flare at the hip can really flatter. Try not to tuck your top into your bottoms and instead look for tops that end below the hipline.  Don’t be afraid to emphasise or show off some cleavage! A v-neck top can help shape the bustline and be super flattering for you.

Layer It

Structured lines on a tailored jacket can really help shape the apple. Finding a jacket which doesn’t have padding in the shoulders and fits snuggly instead, can help avoid unwanted volume around the torso.  In terms of length, jackets that end at the hip bone will skim past the midsection and help create more length in the torso . A quick and easy tip to make a jacket more flattering for your body is to wear it open!

Bottoms Up!

Some traditional apple shapes can often struggle to create a balanced silhouette when it comes to trousers. Wide-leg flowing trousers can be an amazing option to create proportion with the top half of your body. Alternatively, a flared or bootcut trouser or jeans can also look great. Opt for a low-to-mid rise waistband instead of high waisted.

Don’t Skirt Round it

When it comes to skirts, something high waisted with a bit of flow or flare can look absolutely amazing on an apple shape.  This helps define the waistline, whilst skimming over the mid-section and giving some volume in the bottom half.  Alternatively, you could opt for a traditional A-line shape for a more classic cut. Minis are also a great option to highlight those shapely pins!

Dress it up!

A straight cut flowy style dress is perfect for the apple body shape. This kind of style can help to elongate and balance the figure.  A casual shift can also look absolutely stunning! If you’re looking for something a little more formal, you could opt for an empire line or wrap style dress, that skims the mid-section while accentuating the waistline and shaping the torso.
